Pleasure of reading!!

It is very important to give advantages for pleasure of reading from the first years of life. In this task is essential the permanent work from the school and teachers.

As a future teachers, we must develop specific innovative strategies to encourage reading with the aim to achieve habits on children. We have to know how to transform limitations into possibilities.
Nowadays, there is a deep lack of motivation towards lecture in children because of reasons, among others, as a:

- Excess school and extracurricular tasks obligations.
- Inadequacy of books to readers.
- Absence of reader encouragements in the family.

The idea of encouraging the reading habits and enjoying with books can try to develop with different innovative strategies. One of them is to mix reading with ITC resources. In that way it is possible to develop reading activity in two cognitive ways: social and individual.
It is important to encourage reading from entertainment, without putting pressure on the students in development of curricular activities with the use of paper and pencil. We get children dont feel reading like a more homework.

We can propose various ICT tasks with the intention to facilitate the reading competence of a book:

1. Comments about the book on a blog. Each student can create a blog. Then, they can advertise a summary and a personal opinion of the book in their blogs.

2. Reading in a digital media using an eReader or if they want to read a PDF documents, they can use Adobe Reader program.

3. Send and receive tweets. We can organize an activity in which they can exchange different points of view about a topic in a school social network. Like this, we encourage our students to read, they contrast ideas and provide opinions and we promote the respect about code of conduct.

4. Narrations. Students can use tools like Power Point or Prezi in order to elaborate slides which they will summarize the content of the book. The fact to assemble each slide with videos, titles, animation and/or audio is fun and entertaining for our students.

5. Interactive multimedia activities. We have used a lot of tools along our training degree like Hot potatoes or Jclic. As a future teachers we can develop various activities and interactive digital games around the reading of a book with the aim that student use them to reinforce the book´s contents.

Patri, I totally agree with you. It is true that there is a lack of motivation to reading in the most young student´s minds. however, I don´t give up, I think we still can do something against the lack of concern of reading from the student. It is a task of everybody, from the teacher to the families. we, as a future teachers, must to create strategies to increase the interest for the books and we can start not to impose a obligatory lecture to the children, this type of strategy make the opposite effect. We must start allowing to student to read what they want, even if it is acomic, it is a lecture too.
Your ideas about the propose of the ICT tasks to facilitate the reading competence of a book it is a really good idea, we should try to do some of them.

I'm here with you! Using ICT is really good way for motivate students. Of course we need to remember that family have a big influence on children. So may be we can create some brochure for parents with advices. I'm totally agree with all yours ICT task. But in my opinion we always need to choose the type of activity depending on the age. I'm not sure that the 1st year students could do some of it... But may be you can organize the activity with them too, I don't know, it depend on you!
